For families
What is PlayFund?
PlayFund is a payment platform for youth sports. It lets your club get paid in full before the season starts, while you choose to pay in full today or spread payments over the season. There's no extra cost to you, the club covers the fee.
Is this safe? Who handles my payment?
All payments are processed by Stripe, the same technology used by Amazon, Lyft, and millions of other businesses. PlayFund never stores your card number or bank details. Your payment information is encrypted and PCI-compliant.
What if I choose the installment plan?
Klarna splits your payment into installments (commonly 4 payments every two weeks). Your club receives the full season dues upfront regardless. Klarna, not PlayFund, handles collecting your installments and will contact you directly about your payment schedule.
What if I miss a payment?
If you paid in full, your card was only charged once, this shouldn't come up. If you're on a Klarna installment plan, Klarna manages your payment schedule directly and will contact you if a payment doesn't go through, not PlayFund. Contact your club or admin@playfundai.com if you're having trouble either way.
Can I change my card or payment date?
If you paid in full, that charge is already complete, there's nothing to change. If you're on a Klarna installment plan, your card and payment schedule are managed directly through Klarna, not PlayFund, so you'll need to contact Klarna for changes there. For anything else, reach out to admin@playfundai.com.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You don't need to download an app or create a PlayFund account. Your registration link is unique to your athlete. A receipt and payment schedule are emailed to you automatically after you register.
For clubs
How does the club advance work?
Each family's payment lands in your account (less PlayFund's service fee) as they pay, whether that's a card payment settling right away or a Klarna installment plan where Klarna pays your club upfront and collects from the family over time. Either way, your club gets paid in full regardless of how families choose to pay, you're never waiting on a family's installment schedule.
What if a family doesn't pay?
That's PlayFund's problem, not yours. The advance to your club is non-recourse. If a family defaults on their installments, you keep the money. PlayFund and its lending partner absorb the default risk. You never have to chase a family for payment again.
What does it cost the club?
PlayFund charges a service fee on total season dues, deducted before funds land in your account. The exact percentage is set for your club during onboarding, there are no setup fees, monthly fees, or hidden costs, and families pay no extra fees.
What do I need to get started?
Your club's EIN, a bank account to receive the advance, and your athlete roster with parent emails. The bank connection is handled through Stripe, it takes about 5 minutes and PlayFund never sees your account credentials.
