Terms of Service

Draft — not yet in effect

1. Agreement

These terms govern your use of PlayFund's registration and payment platform. By registering an athlete, creating a club account, or making a payment through PlayFund, you agree to these terms.

2. What PlayFund does

PlayFund lets youth sports clubs collect season registration and dues online. Clubs get their dues upfront; parents can pay in full or, where offered, in installments through Klarna. Payments are processed by Stripe. PlayFund is a platform connecting parents, clubs, and these payment providers — PlayFund does not itself extend credit, underwrite installment plans, or guarantee a club's season or program.

3. Who can use PlayFund

You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of any athlete you register. The parent or guardian is always the person who registers, pays, and — if applicable — enters into any installment agreement. An athlete under 18 is never the account holder and is never the named party on any payment or financing agreement.

You are not required to create a PlayFund account to register an athlete or make a payment.

4. Payments

The amount shown to you at checkout is the total amount charged to your payment method — there are no hidden add-on fees for paying in full by card or bank transfer. PlayFund's service fee is deducted from the club's payout, not added on top of what you pay. Payments are processed securely by Stripe; PlayFund never sees or stores your full card or bank account number.

5. Paying with Klarna (installments)

Klarna is a separate financial service from PlayFund. If you choose to pay in installments, you are entering into an agreement directly with Klarna, subject to Klarna's own approval decision and terms. Klarna — not PlayFund or the club — collects your installment payments and is responsible for how missed or late payments are handled. Using Klarna's installment or financing options may affect your credit, depending on the specific option Klarna offers you; review Klarna's terms before agreeing to a plan.

If Klarna is unable to approve an installment plan, PlayFund will offer alternative ways to complete registration, such as paying in full or arranging a plan directly with the club.

6. Refunds and cancellations

Needs decision: PlayFund does not yet have a finalized refund policy — including what happens if an athlete withdraws mid-season, whether refunds are issued by PlayFund or the club, and how any advanced/fronted funds are recovered. This section must be completed with an actual policy before launch. Until then, refund requests should be handled manually and communicated clearly to the family involved.

7. Clubs' responsibilities

Clubs are responsible for accurately describing their program, setting correct dues amounts, and delivering the season or program described at registration. Clubs must provide accurate information during onboarding, including who is authorized to access payout information.

Needs decision: whether the club or PlayFund is the party responsible for reaching out to a family whose payment was declined hasn't been decided yet. Today, PlayFund's app offers the family a way to request the club contact them directly.

8. Prohibited use

You agree not to misuse the platform — including submitting false registration information, attempting to access another club's or family's data without authorization, or using the platform for any purpose other than legitimate youth sports registration and payment.

9. Disclaimers

PlayFund is provided "as is." We do not guarantee that a club's program will run as described, and we are not responsible for a club's conduct, coaching, or safety practices — those remain the club's responsibility.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, PlayFund's liability for any claim related to these terms or the platform is limited to the amount of fees PlayFund actually received related to that claim.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated date at the top of this page.

12. Governing law

Needs decision: the state whose law governs these terms, and where disputes would be resolved, hasn't been decided yet (depends on where PlayFund is ultimately incorporated).
